2.1 Human Performance and Limitations

  1. Sensory Input: Reception of stimuli via vision, hearing, touch, smell, and balance.

  • Error Trapping: Techniques used to catch errors before they cause harm. The most effective error trap is the task card. Using it as a checklist, step-by-step, prevents omissions and ensures adherence to the approved data.
  • Tooling: Using the correct, calibrated tool for the job is a fundamental requirement. An uncalibrated tool (e.g., an expired torque wrench) is a non-compliance. The correct action is to stop work, quarantine the tool, and rectify any work performed with it.
  • Documentation: The maintenance record is a legal document. It must be completed immediately after the task, in permanent ink, and signed by the certifying staff. Erasures are not permitted. The certifying staff must have personally performed or directly supervised the work, or have verified it through acceptable means.
