About EASA Part-66 Certification

The EASA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML) is issued under Annex III (Part-66) of Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014. There are eight licence categories — A (turbine or piston), B1.1–B1.4 (aeroplane and helicopter mechanics, turbine or piston), B2 (avionics) and B3 (light helicopters and small aeroplanes up to 2 000 kg) — covering all maintenance disciplines in Europe.

Certification is built on the 17 basic knowledge modules (M1–M17) defined in Appendix I of Part-66, each examined at a defined knowledge depth (Level 1 overview, Level 2 general, Level 3 in-depth). Candidates take only the modules required for their category (12–13 modules) and must pass every one with a 75% pass mark (66.A.25), following the question counts and time limits of Appendix II.

Alongside the module examinations, applicants must satisfy the practical experience requirements of 66.A.30 — 2 years for Category A and B3, 3 years for B1.2/B1.4 (reduced to 2 with an MTO basic course), and 5 years for B1.1/B1.3/B2 (reduced to 3 with an MTO basic course, or 2 where the course included the approved practical element). Experience is documented in a logbook with on-the-job training (OJT) supervised by certifying staff at approved maintenance organisations.

Skylicence Europe is designed to complement your training program by providing AI-powered practice questions, adaptive difficulty that adjusts to your knowledge level, and an AI Tutor that explains complex topics in plain language. Whether you are enrolled at a maintenance training organisation (MTO, formerly Part-147), earning your experience on the job under certifying staff supervision, or studying independently — our platform helps you target your weak areas and build exam confidence through deliberate practice.
